Why I built this site
For as long as I can remember I have been the person people call when they need help navigating something complicated. Not because it was my job but because I genuinely care about helping people find clarity in moments that feel overwhelming.
When I went through my own child support process I experienced firsthand what so many families face. I had the education and the determination to find answers, but the tools available were outdated, confusing, and written in language that felt designed to send you straight to a lawyer before you even understood the basics. I built LifeCalcCenter because nobody should have to feel that lost when the information they need is out there and just needs to be explained in plain English.
Over the years I have helped countless parents and students outside of my regular work, not as a business, not for compensation, but simply because someone needed help and I had the knowledge to give it. Helping families navigate college planning, understanding financial decisions, and making sense of complex systems is something I have done my entire adult life out of the goodness of my heart. This site is the natural extension of that.
My background
My Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration gave me a deep foundation in leadership, policy, and student affairs, the same systems families have to navigate when making major education and life decisions. I have spent over 20 years in higher education, most recently serving as Associate Dean for Student Affairs and Director of Student Success. Before that I earned two mathematics degrees, one in traditional mathematics and one in mathematics education, and taught math at both the middle school and college levels.
That combination of a mathematics foundation and decades of experience helping students and families navigate complex decisions is what I bring to every calculator and every explanation on this site. When I build a calculator I am not guessing at the formula. And when I explain what the result means I am drawing on years of sitting across from real people in real situations and finding the words that actually help.
What this site is and what it is not
LifeCalcCenter is a free educational resource. The calculators here are built to help you understand your situation, ask better questions, and walk into conversations with attorneys, lenders, and advisors already knowing the basics.
This site is not a law firm and does not provide legal or financial advice. Every calculator result comes with a plain English explanation of what the number means and what factors might make your real situation different because informed people make better decisions and better decisions change lives.
A note about my daughter
My daughter completed both her B.S. and PharmD from Florida universities starting with dual enrollment in 11th grade. That experience as her mother and as an education professional is what inspired the GPA and college prep calculators on this site.
Mathematics foundation
Two math degrees and years of teaching mean every formula on this site is built correctly.
Higher ed insider
20+ years navigating higher education systems from the inside gives you the real picture.
Genuine care
Helping families navigate complex decisions has always been something I do because I care.
Plain English always
No jargon. No legalese. Every result explained so it actually means something to you.
